I went to the Dover Saddlery store opening Thursday with my friend Deb. Dover took over the space where Libertyville Saddle shop used to be. They had a nice reception, food, wine, a champagne toast. Nothing like a little wine and champagne to get you loose with your wallet...;-)
They had gold medalists Peter Wylde and Melanie Smith-Taylor there and vendor reps. The store was nice, but much smaller than the old LSS. They did not renovate the whole space. There was a huge amount of people.Smart!
Deb checked out this cute pink plaid saddle pad. I thought it would look great on her deep, rich, dark bay horse. She contained herself and didn't buy it.
Sorry for the blur, camera phone, sign says "Line forms here". We waited in line for about a half hour to pay for our stuff. The wine helped the time go quick!
Deb and I both bought another pair of all season FITS breeches in mink color. Buy a pair and get a free half zip fleece!
Note: The picture is NOT of me or Deb, in case you were wondering...*lol*

I also got a pair of the Laura style denim breeches. SO cute! Happy Holidays to me. :-}
I think we helped sell breeches for the FITS rep. One woman was at the vignette asking all these questions of the rep. Deb and I practically ran up and begged for breeches in our sizes. The woman looked at us like we were, well, a little strange. We gushed to the rep about FITS and we won't wear anything else and how well they hold up to washing and last so long. And the rep was like "I know they are the greatest, right?" We giggled and bonded over our love of FITS. The hesitant woman bought a pair. Maybe we should have asked for a commission?!

Sounds like a great time...shopping for horse stuff....and wine, too!
ReplyDeleteSo, will FITS really make my butt look as good as those models?

I'm visiting new blogs today for the first time, so i also thought id wish you a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your readers. And i hope that the day is spent generating positive memories for years to come. Richard from Amish Stories.
ReplyDeleteThose saddles don't have horns! And I'll bet you and Deb look better in the breeches than the models do. ;)
ReplyDeleteIf more businesses served wine in the checkout line, they might just see a jump in sales. And fewer unruly customers.
Hard to read that lunging in the bridle bit... I'm sure harder to watch.
ReplyDeleteOhh - I love my FITS too - black and forest green.
I really liked that pink plaid saddle pad! I would definitely be dangerous in a store like that, especially after a little "nip" or two. And I don't even have a horse! Sounds like a fun event!
