Seven!

Scout turned seven on Friday. He's been part of our family for 3 and a half years now. These foal pictures are from the owner/breeder. She gave them to me, which was really nice of her.
I think she realised he was going to a forever home.
His sire was a beautiful blue roan and his dam a palomino mare with a sweet temperament. , Just checked his papers, I guess his dam was a registered QH.
I understand his daddy was very manageable too for a stallion. He's built like his sire, but taller and not so "tankish". His dad was a really burly QH.

He was exhausted when I got him. He was on a trailer for hours. The owner was delivering a lot of horses that day and he was the last one off the truck. He's dozing here, could barely keep his head up he was so tired.

Here he is a couple months later. His personality is evident here. Always looking to see what's going on.
We are so happy to have him. He's been a joy!

  10. Happy Birthday, Scout! The other day, I had his halter hanging on my arm and I was walking around their paddock looking for Fritz and Fred's shoes. Scout was walking behind me and he was trying to put his face in the halter so that I'd take him in. Adorable.

About Me

My Photo
A horseowner and mom who juggles time between husband, kids and horses. I try and see things from the horse's perspective. I believe there is info to be learned from everyone, but it's up to me to decide if it is useful to me or not. I grew up riding hunter/jumper but have always loved trail riding. As an adult I explored cow working and dressage and continue to pleasure ride. I worked in the purchasing offices of a big box retailer in my former career and also taught at a Montessori school. Now I'm a full time mom and all that comes with that. Domestic enigineer and COO of the home! Oh, and horse caretaker...
